Schools Internet Service
ICT services for schools and academies
Internet services provides secure broadband connectivity which includes web filtering, firewall protection and utilises a private WAN connection for reliability and speed.
Network connectivity
Dependent on your requirements, the schools’ broadband service provides a range of managed connectivity options for your school from network providers such as BT and Talk Talk. These options include ADSL, SDSL, FTTC, FTTP and leased lines.
A managed router will be provided which connects your school to Suffolk County Council’s High-speed Wide Area Network (WAN), providing a robust, reliable network for your school.
If you are part of a multi-academy trust, our WAN can allow your schools to share data between sites, without the need for additional private circuits.
Web filtering
The Schools Choice filtering solution, provided by Smoothwall, is a full multi-tenanted service that allows your school the freedom to control its own internet access policy, report on usage, including specific safeguarding reports, all via an easy to use web portal.
The solution analyses and categorises web content in real time, without just relying on traditional URL blocklists which can quickly become outdated. As part of the broadband package, Smoothwall helps to protect you from inappropriate illegal content, anonymous proxy usage, wasted resources, and can also help to protect your computers from zero-day risks.
Remote management
A basic central remote management platform (SSL VPN) provides your IT technicians remote access to your network.
Internet Publishing
The broadband service allows your school to publish their services to the internet via managed firewalls. If required, we can host internet facing DNS for your school on Microsoft’s Azure cloud platform.
